Carson Goings

Carson Goings of Williford, Arkansas passed away at his home surrounded by family on July 26, 2024 at the age of 86.

Carson was the son of Lester and Flossie Morgan Goings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, J. L. Goings and J. E. “Sim” Goings; two sisters, Lorene Goings Morgan and Imogene Goings; and infant son, Mark Todd Goings.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Daphine Brandon Goings of the home; two sons, Mike (wife Kathy) Goings of Maumelle, Arkansas and Marc (wife Kim) Goings of Hardy, Arkansas; one daughter, Kim (husband Steve) Bailey of Williford; six grandchildren: Heather Morgan, Brandon Goings, Katie Walters, Brant Goings, Kody Goings, and Alex Peruchi; seven great-grandchildren: Bailey Morgan, Molly Morgan, Ty Morgan, Violet Walters, Ella Walters, Benjamin Walters, and Samuel Walters; two brothers, Cecil Goings of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Don Ray (Linda) Goings of Bella Vista, Arkansas; one sister, Bonnie Sue Goings of Mount Ida, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews. 

Carson began his working career in West Memphis, Arkansas as a salesman for Sears & Roebuck in 1958. He moved back to Sharp County in 1961 and quickly became involved in community service and economic development. He served as circuit clerk of Sharp County from 1964-68 and was elected as Sharp County tax assessor in 1968. In addition, he was elected chairman of the five-county area development council representing Fulton, Independence, Izard, Sharp, and Stone counties and served on various economic development and tourism boards and committees. Carson owned and operated Carson’s Carpets for ten years. He was also a real estate broker. In 1990 he became a certified Residential and Commercial real estate appraiser and opened his own appraisal office, Goings & Associates, Inc. where he worked until his retirement in 2002.

Carson was a faithful member of the church of Christ and deeply loved his family and community. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him much joy in life as did his many friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Wednesday, July 31, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tri-County Funeral Home at Highland, Arkansas. Burial will follow in Buchanan Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Brandon, Brant, and Kody Goings, Alex Peruchi, Ty and Chris Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Jeffrey, Ronnie, Todd, and Shane Goings, Tommy and Ethan Woody, and Ryan Walters.
