Bobby Witt Jr. and the Royals took down the White Sox in the Windy City. Witt belted an eighth-inning grand slam to propel Kansas City to an 8-5 win over Chicago in the opener of a three-game series. He finished the game 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a pair of runs scored, while MJ Melendez and Hunter Renfroe also homered. Chris Stratton earned his third win in relief, while James McArthur notched his 18th save. The Royals snapped a two-game losing skid to improve to 58-and-49. Chicago first baseman Andrew Vaughn hit his 12th homer of the year in the setback. John Brebbia was charged with the loss. The White Sox have lost 15 straight and sit last in the AL Central at 27-and-82.
