Charlene Gladys Swiney, age 78, passed away on October 20, 2023, at Brent B. Tinnin Manor, Ellington, Missouri. She was born on August 20, 1945, in Shannon County, Missouri, to Noble and Martha Counts.
Charlene graduated from Eminence High School in 1963 and started working in 1964 at McDonald Douglas Air Craft in St. Louis, Illinois. Later on, Charlene worked for Angelica in Eminence, Missouri, but found her calling after she attended Salem School of Cosmetology in 1992. She opened Charlene Swiney’s Beauty Salon in Eminence. Her favorite pastimes were doing string rugs, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Martha Counts; and four siblings, Thomas Counts, Donald Counts, Velma Shipton, and Faye Bailey.
She is survived by her daughter, Candice Mann (Richard) of Ellington, MO; two sisters, Lizzie Piatt of Salem, MO and Bernice Chitwood of Richland, MO; three grandchildren, Caleb Talkington (Cassie), Kenna Stogsdill (Joseph), and Brandi Pogue; and five great-grandchildren, Tillie Mae, Gracie, Jackson, Jonny, and Bennett.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Piatt Cemetery, Timber, Missouri, with Charles Younger officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri.
