Chester V. Jenkins, 87 years, 3 months, and 4 days old, passed away on March 28, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.
Chester was born December 24, 1935 in Ava, Missouri to Thetis and Hilda Jo (Gastineau) Jenkins.
He was raised in Douglas County, MO and graduated from Ava High School in 1954. Chester was an Army Veteran and served honorably.
On July 12, 1959, Chester and Iris Ann Day were united in marriage in Springfield, MO and together they were blessed with a son, Dustin.
Chester retired from owner and operator of his trucking company, Jenkins Inc.
His granddaughters, Trinity and Annabelle were the true light of his life and spending time with them was his greatest joy. As a young man, he was a race car enthusiast and was instrumental in establishment of the Ava race track and proudly wore the number 67.
Chester and Iris Ann were charter members of the Missouri Foxtrotters Association and looked forward to attending the events from year to year. He was a Christian and was a member of First General Baptist Church on W. Walnut in Springfield, Missouri.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Iris Ann, and a brother, Dean Jenkins.
He is survived by his son, Dustin Jenkins; two granddaughters, Trinity Bene’ Jenkins and Annabelle Jane Jenkins; his daugther-in-law, Emily Jenkins; one sister, Carol Edwards; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Services for Chester will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to service time on Wednesday. Burial will be Friday, April 7, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, MO with full military honors. Officiating will be Pastor Brian Garrison. Memorials may be made to the First General Baptist Church on West Walnut in Springfield, MO. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
