Clarence A. Messex, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away at his home Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Clarence was born January 1, 1942, in Spokane, WA to Harry Martin and Bernice Shirley (Kinter) Messex and was 82 years old.
Clarence attended school in Yakima, WA up to 8th grade before joining the work force. Once he turned 17, he joined the U.S. Air Force to serve his country. After his honorable discharge, he found work playing drums for Boxcar Willie, driving trucks, and working on the Alaskan Pipeline as a supervisor. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy, where he also worked as a pastor for many years before retiring. On January 24, 1960, Clarence married the love of his life, Lula Mae Clouse in Yakima, WA. Clarence enjoyed many different hobbies, from collecting diecast cars, welding, to playing just about any instrument that wasn’t a horn. After being saved, he would only play his music for his family, friends, and the church. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Bernice; his brothers, Kenneth and Larry Messex; and his son, Clarence Marlon Messex.
He is survived by his daughter, Joy Scott and her husband, Earl of Washougal, WA; his daughter, Luree Letterman of Willow Springs, MO; and his son, Arnold Messex of California. He is further survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held for Clarence from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Willow Funeral Home, LLC. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the Willow Springs City Cemetery with Pastor Bill Miller officiating.
