Constance Gloria Lewis King

Constance “Connie” Gloria (Lewis) King, daughter of late Carl and Indivinia (Slay) Lewis, a self-proclaimed “southern girl,” was born June 29, 1927, in Alabama, and departed this life surrounded by loved ones on July 22, 2024. She was 97 years and 23 days of age.

On December 10, 1949, Connie married her soulmate, Robert H. King. They spent many delightful years together. They were a wonderful couple and an encouraging example of what marriage should look like. They were together for 59 years when he passed in February of 2009. Robert has been waiting for his “Sweet” to join him since that day and now they are together again. She is resting peacefully beside him at the Georgia National Cemetery. Connie was nicknamed “Sweet” by her daddy when she was little, a nickname she truly portrayed. Anyone who met her was instantly endeared to her sweet nature and sharp memory. Connie had only lived in the Mountain Grove area for a few years but made many friends in that short time.

Connie was a homemaker and she loved providing for and helping others. She made her home a blessing to all who visited. She completely enjoyed the beauty of this world. She loved watching birds fly and looking at colorful flowers. She truly enjoyed the beauty in everything that she saw. She was also an avid writer. In a time that has lost this art form, she could write very articulate letters. It goes hand in hand with how she met the Thorn family and how she and her adopted family were blessed by getting to know Connie. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
