Graveside Services for Daniel Joseph “Joey” Plaster, Age 55 of Springfield, Missouri will be held on Friday, August 14th, 2026 in The Seymour Masonic Cemtery, Seymour, Missouri, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Daniel Joseph “Joey” Plaster, son of the late SGM Steven Plaster and Cynthia (Price) Plaster, was born April 16, 1971, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He departed this life suddenly August 9, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri, at 55 years of age.
In 1989, Joey enlisted in the United States Air Force to serve his country, and he was later honorably discharged for medical reasons. He was a lover of all things history and he received his Bachelor’s degree in history, graduating with honors from College of the Ozarks in 1995. Joey got the opportunity to travel under cover to Kosovo in 1998, to take pictures and document the Kosovo Civil War.
He enjoyed participating in Civil War reenactments in the 1990’s, and he also acted in the movie Gods and Generals in 2001. Joey immersed himself in the Amish culture and lived as an Amish person over the years of 2000-2001. He then enjoyed a career in public safety with Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. He has written and published two books entitled Marmaduke’s First Missouri Raid and Nineteen for Lincoln. He had also written his third book and was in the process of editing it.
On May 3, 2006, Joey was united in marriage to Sarah Irene Hogg and one son was born to this union, Lucas Nathaniel Plaster. He was proud to spend his entire married life as a dedicated husband and father.
Joey took great pleasure in researching family trees for relatives and friends. He also enjoyed metal detecting anywhere in the Ozarks, hoping to find treasures from the past. Joey was a skilled weather watcher, and he took pride in helping to protect family and friends, alerting them of dangerous storms. He was also a proud member of the Solomon Masonic Lodge #271 in Springfield, Missouri.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Cynthia Plaster, his grandparents, Don and Imogene Plaster, his father-in-law, Carl Hogg, uncle, Jim Stafford, and one cousin, Nathan Plaster.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Plaster, his son, Lucas Plaster, his sister, Laurie (Plaster) Poe, two nieces, Ashley Poe and Saige McKee, one nephew, Ryan Poe, his mother-in-law, Diana Hogg, one sister-in-law, Liz Mathis, two brothers-in-law, Mark Poe and Shawn Mathis, six uncles, Retired US Air Force Captain, Donald Plaster, Doug Price, Greg Price, Terry Urban, Jeff Price, and John Price, four aunts, Sheila Plaster, Kathy Stafford, Jennifer (Price) Tapp, and Cyndi (Price) Ascough, great-uncle, Richard Muniz, great-aunt, Glenda Plaster-Muniz, cousins, Amy Green and her daughter, Ellie Green, Jamie Skiver and husband, Jeremy, and their daughters, Kadence, Kayleigh, and Katelynn Skiver, Cody Stafford and wife, Laiken, and their children, Mayli and Caston Stafford, and many other extended family and friends who will miss him.
