David Xavier Hannigan, age 73, passed away on August 2, 2022, at Select Specialty Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. He was born to Francis Thomas and Anna Jane (Hollyday) Hannigan on October 20, 1948, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. David was united in marriage to Deborah Sue Couch on January 27, 1996, at Covenant Life Fellowship, Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Jane Hannigan; two brothers, Robert Michael Hannigan and John Christopher Hannigan; and one sister, Katherine Teresa Hannigan.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Deborah Hannigan; two brothers, Frank J. Hannigan and J. Gregory Hannigan; four sisters, Anne H. Swift, Patricia H. Latkovski, Peggy Day, and Mary H. Barrett; and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
David was an athlete and competed in Track and Field sports in his younger years. David graduated from Guilford high school 1967. He went on to attend Middlesex Community College before entering the Air Force in 1968. 20 years later he joined the Air National Guard. David loved the Ozarks. He often expressed that he loved “listening in the woods.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing canoeing and horseback riding. David was an Eminence Mason. David was an emergency communications specialist and achieved his Amateur Radio License. David was a licensed Heavy Equipment operator in the military and in the Ozarks Scenic River Ways in the National Park Service. For many years David led youth groups at churches he attended and considered those kids like his own.
