Dennis Keith Welch

Dennis Keith Welch of Seymour, Missouri, fought the good fight and battled pancreatic cancer until the very end. He earned his angel wings on September 17, 2022, at the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 17 days and passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dennis was born on November 30, 1951, in Springfield, Missouri, to Arthur Welch and Gertie (Pender) Welch, of Seymour, Missouri. He accepted Christ at the age of 20 and was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church.

Dennis graduated from Seymour High School in May of 1971. Following high school, he was hired by Paul Mueller’s Company in Springfield, where he retired 43 years later as a Craftsman. He had an excellent work ethic and did not miss one day of work-whether sick or due to inclement weather. In 1972, Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Ford Welch of Seymour. Both were grateful to have celebrated their 50th Anniversary on June 30, 2022, with some family and close friends.

In his earlier years, Dennis loved to hunt and always loved to tinker with odds and ends in his shop, renovate classic cars, and spend time with family. He loved to go on Sunday drives and enjoyed a good acceleration in his classic cars. Dennis enjoyed gardening with his wife and transplanting native flowers. He loved nature hikes with his family and was also a big fan of the television show American Pickers. He enjoyed spending time with a myriad of pets over the years, especially his dogs, and he could be found feeding feral cats at his mother’s home.

Dennis was liked by all. He had a humble spirit and a gentle and a kind temperament toward all he met. He was always known for his friendly waves on the roads of Seymour. He was a loyal friend, loving husband, father, and papa who would selflessly serve and give. He loved bringing his family treats, especially his daughters when younger, and giving his grandchildren found treasures and toys.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Arthur and Gertie Welch, and sister-in-law, Sharron Lawson Welch of Ash Grove, Missouri.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Sharon Ford Welch of the home; daughter, Amy Welch Scovel and son in-law, Rick Scovel, and grandson, Tyndale Scovel, of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Dawn Welch and grand-daughter, Adriana Albury of Keller, Texas; and his brother, Kenneth Welch of Ash Grove, Missouri.
