Edith Mae Asplin, age 92, passed away at Birch Tree Place Nursing Home on Sunday, November 22, 2020. She was born on September 11, 1928, in Shannon County, Missouri, to Amos and Jessie (Brake) Smotherman.
She was married to Robert Lester Asplin, and to this union two sons were born, Ronnie and Bruce.
Edith is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Jessie; husband, Robert; son, Ronnie; great-grandson, Wyatt; great-granddaughter, Kelsey; siblings, Opal Thurman, Beulah Jones, Dessie Allen, Herschel Smotherman, Lola Rosenbum, Dwain Smotherman, Wilma Miller, and Virginia Miller.
She worked at Birch Tree Shoe Factory until they closed, and then she and Robert bought Country Kitchen with Kenny and Shirley Rosenbum in West Plains, MO, where they made lots of new friends and memories.
Edith had lots of things she enjoyed doing, but some of her favorites were, crocheting, embroidering, dancing, shopping, and country music. Everyone who knew her knows that her appearance was always a priority and she loved her, “bling.” She also was an immaculate housekeeper.
She is survived by one son, Bruce Asplin and wife Tina of Birch Tree, MO; two grandsons, Ty Asplin and wife, Leslie, Justin Asplin, and wife Jennifer; two granddaughters, Stormie Reeves and husband, Charlie, Meagan Kile and husband, Matt; great-grandchildren, Coleman, Cloey, Grady, Kegan, Gavin, Sophie, Sadie; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Howell Memorial Park with Jeff Brake officiating under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View.
