Edna Evline Griffin Hannaford peacefully departed this earth on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the age of 93 at the Gainesville Health Care Center. Edna was born on October 15, 1926 in Oakland Arkansas, the daughter of Jack Griffin and Nancy Lee Griffin.
She married Albert Holt Hannaford on December 23, 1947 in Mountain Home Arkansas. Four children were born to this union; Charles Lee, Alva L., Janice Faye, and James Albert. Albert Holt passed away on May 31, 1995.
Edna was a member of the Brushy Knob General Baptist Church, where she served as secretary, treasurer and Sunday School teacher for many years. Most remember her as a cafeteria cook for the Gainesville School System where she retired. She also worked at the Bushong Grocery Store, meeting and making friends that lasted a life-time. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren any time she could. She is famous for her pork roast, cinnamon rolls and biscuits with cocoa gravy. She loved making quilts and sewing dresses for her girls.
Preceding Edna in death are her husband and parents, siblings; Delphia Powell, Delmer Griffin, John Griffin, Maxine Satterfield, and Ethelene McClendon; one grandson Robert Holt Hannaford; and one great grandson Matthew Holt Abraham.
Surviving are her sons: Charles, Alva and wife Linda, and James and wife Sherry, all of Gainesville, and daughter Janice Rothermich and husband Tom of Troy, Missouri; 14 grandchildren- Melinda Abraham, Angie Calvert, Hope Hillhouse, Nathan Hannaford, Mike Hannaford, Scott Hannaford, Lacy Mehrhoff, Erin Yarger, Tracy Junte, Rick Smith, Jimmy Hannaford, Alicia Adamson, Joshua Hannaford and Jeremy Hannaford; 26 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; also one brother Ray Griffin of Kansas City area.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO with Jeff Dotson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to service time. Burial will be in the Brushy Knob Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Brushy Knob Cemetery. Dinner will be served at Brushy Knob Church following services. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
