Ethel Mae Lang Plachy, 89, of Caulfield, Missouri, passed away on July 28, 2026. She was born April 19, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to Charles and Mildred Lang of Judsonia, Arkansas, where she grew up. She graduated from Judsonia High School, where she enjoyed sports and played on the basketball team.
On August 1, 1954, she married Frank Bennett Plachy, Sr., in Judsonia, Arkansas. They shared nearly 72 years of marriage before his passing on May 28, 2026. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work and service to others.
Ethel was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a faithful Christian and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Her husband preached the gospel for more than 70 years, and she faithfully worked beside him, supporting his ministry and helping spread the gospel wherever their lives took them. Ethel was the steady foundation of her family. While Frank traveled for work, she raised three children, cared for the farm, worked outside the home and managed the family finances. Throughout their marriage, she supported Frank through his pipeline work, boilermaking, farming, preaching and the many other jobs they took on while building their life together.
She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, hospitality and willingness to care for others. She loved visiting with others. She gave freely of what she had to the church, charities and individuals in need. She loved her family deeply and spent her life serving the Lord and caring for those around her.
She leaves to mourn her two children, Sabrina M. Ford of Moody, Missouri, and Frank B. Plachy, Jr. of West Plains, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jared Hall and wife Ambrea of West Plains, Missouri, Wesley Hall and wife Alyssa of Brentwood, Tennessee, Regina Hall Gregory and husband Adam of Springfield, Missouri, Amber Plachy Shaw and husband Damien of Neosho, Missouri, and Tabitha Plachy of Quitman, Georgia; five great-grandchildren, Emerson Hall and Ethan Hall of Brentwood, Tennessee, Emmett Hall of West Plains, Missouri, Lilly Raines of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, and Jamison Russell of Springfield, Missouri; one brother, Roy Lang; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bennett Plachy, Sr.; one daughter, Vivian Denise Plachy Hall; one great-granddaughter, Ivy Denise Jackson; her parents; one sister-in-law; and three brothers, Charles, Robert and William.
Ethel lived a long and faithful life devoted to God, her family and others. She is now safe in the care of Jesus and reunited with her beloved husband and the loved ones who went before her.
