Glendell Dean Nash was born on January 20, 1944, to Harley and Marie (Atkins) Nash, making him 80 years old. He was born at home just outside of Eminence, Missouri.
At age 16, he began working for his brother-in-law, drilling test wells. At 22, Dean met the love of his life, Charlene Long, and they were married on April 22, 1966. After the drilling stopped, he went to work for Crider Lime Quarry, and later, he went to work for Ivan Osborne as a laborer on the Summersville Bank. After that, Dean was asked to come to work at the OEO by Vincent Simpson, which led to a job with the National Park Service at Alley Springs under Jess Plowman. Next, he rented many different farms and went into the cattle business, and that was his love. Eventually, he was able to purchase his father’s farm and his cattle. He loved farming, and he knew each cow and knew immediately if any one of them was missing.
Sadly, Dean started having strokes, which finally took him. He was saved at an early age, and when he married, he and Charlene attended church faithfully. They were members of the First Assembly of God. They were blessed with a son, Glendell Richard Nash, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one on the way. Dean loved them all and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Marie Nash; one brother, Bob Nash; brother-in-law, Leon Cooley; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Nash, Eloise Nash, and Edna Nash.
Dean is survived by his wife, Charlene; son, Glen Nash; two brothers, Bill and Paul Nash; one sister, Joy Cooley; three grandchildren, Leslie Smith, Morgan Nash, and Harley Nash; and four great-grandchildren, with one on the way, Chelsey, Barton, and Chase Nash, and Hayley and Aariona Smith.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Assembly of God Church, Eminence, Missouri, with Darrell Jones officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Eminence.
