Golda Virginia Stout, 96 years, 11 months, 16 days old, passed peacefully on August 6, 2023 at Magnolia Square Nursing and Rehab. in Springfield, MO with her family by her side.
Golda was born August 20, 1926 in Douglas County, MO to George Carlos and Fila Isabelle (Dye) Thurman. She grew up in the Douglas County community.
In 1942 Golda and Harold “E.T.” Stout were united in marriage and together were blessed with two children, Linda and “Kenny”.
Golda was a retired Manager at Dollar General in Mtn. Grove, MO for 40 years. She had also worked with her husband, E.T. at the Richville General Store and Gas Station for years. In addition, Golda owned and operated a fabric store in Mtn. Grove. In her younger years she worked at the Carps Department Store in Ava, MO. Golda enjoyed working and being involved in her communities. Golda was a Christian and a member of the Mtn. Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She was faithful in supporting her husband as he preached at several area churches. Golda enjoyed crafting, embroidery, sewing, cooking and caring for her family. Her family was her joy and she was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother!
Golda was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lester Thurman; her son, George “Kenny” Stout; her daughter, Linda Collins; and her grandson, Colby Snider.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Vicky Stout; her son-in-law, Doyle Collins; her grandchildren, Stephanie Downing, Jodie Snider, Tina Boyd, Missy Atchison and T.J.Stout; numerous great and great great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Golda will be Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Blanche Cemetery east of Ava. Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday at 1:00 P.M. Officiating will be Pastor Jamie Bilyeu and T.J. Stout. Memorials may be made to the Blanche Cemetery.
