Jerry Max Campbell, 82 years, 1 month, 25 days old, passed to Heaven on May 16, 2021 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, MO. Norma Jean Campbell 87 years, 15 days passed to Heaven on May 18, 2021 also at Cox Medical Center with family by her side.
Max was born March 21, 1939 in Union, AR to Andy and Myrtle (Blevins) Campbell. Norma was born May 3, 1934 in Stockland, IL to Elijah and Dicie (Belcher) Holland.
Max was an Ava High School graduate. He was also a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Norma attended school at Earl Park, IN graduating in 1952.
On November 14, 1981 Max and Norma (Holland) Adkins were united in marriage at Lafayette, IN.
They lived in Indiana until moving back to Ava in 1993. Max did custodial work for Purdue University for several years. Norma was formerly employed at Landis Gyr. Manufacturing at Lafayette, IN for 14 years before retiring in 1987. They both were members of the First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. Max loved playing his guitar and harmonicas and visiting with his friends. Norma & Max were devoted to each other and loved their families and the Lord.
Max was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Jim & Charles Campbell and a nephew, Jimmy. Norma was preceded by her parents, her husband, Max, three brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his sister and her husband, Violet & Bob Sell of Forsyth, MO, sister-in-law, Wanda Campbell, several nieces, Norma is survived by Max’s family, also several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services for Max & Norma will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Maples. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International or the charity of the donor’s choice
