Joan Dedmon

Joan Dedmon, 87 years, 6 months, 14 days old, went home to be with Jesus on March 11, 2022 at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Missouri with her daughters by her side.

Joan was born August 27, 1934 in Wright County, MO to Chester and Imogene (King) Bennett.

On October 18, 1952 Joan and Bill Dedmon were united in marriage in Wright County, MO and they were blessed with two daughters, Tracy and Vickie.

As a young woman she spent many years working at Divans Drug Store in Mansfield. She also worked at the Dime Store and a Teacher’s Aid at the Public School all in Mansfield, MO. After moving from Mansfield in 1976 she spent many years of dedication caring for many children in her Day Care in Houston and Ava, MO. She was a member of the Wolf Creek Freewill Baptist Church and in later years attended the First General Baptist Church in Ava.

In her spare time she enjoyed fishing with her family, reading and spent many hours canning and freezing the produce from Bill’s garden. Joan was a die hard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; two sisters, Audrey Bennett and Juanita DeWitt; and granddaughter Miranda Haden.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Tracy Sartor and husband, Terry and Vickie Brown and husband, Larry; four grandchildren, Timothy Haden and Misty, Jennifer Haden and Kenny, Dustin & Summer Ward and Christopher Ward and fiancé, Kristine; 9 great grandchildren; sisters Connie and Curt Calhoun, Debbie and David Van Stavern; two sister’s in laws, Kay Patterson and Frances Dedmon; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Joan will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Steele Memorial Cemetery at Hartville, MO.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 15th from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Roberts and Pastor Gary Ray Dedmon.  Family requests donations to Gideon’s.
