Joe Bill Mahan

Joe Bill Mahan, 93, of Theodosia, MO passed away October 29, 2024 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO. Always known as “Bill”, he was born November 24, 1930 on Shilo Ridge in Ozark County to parents Cally and Myrtle (Brown) Mahan.

Bill attended all eight years of school at Shilo school house. He was married to Juanita Rhodes on July 8, 1950. They were married 74 years. Bill was a farmer all his life, except when there was a drought in the early 1950’s. At that time Bill and Juanita went to Kansas City where he worked at Armour & Company for a short time. They returned back to their farm where they built a dairy barn and sold grade A milk for years and had beef cattle too. His grandpa had given him a pig when he was a small boy, then a pet female pig. Bill was in the hog business and always had pigs for sale until it got to where there was no profit to be made. He made the decision to get out of the hog business and felt like he was too old to milk as well, but he still loved his black angus cows.
