Juanita Jane Wood

Juanita Jane (Cooper) Wood was born north of Birch Tree, Missouri, on March 27, 1932, to Mack Arnold Cooper and Dona Pearl Derryberry. She passed away on December 5, 2022, at Mountain View Healthcare, Mountain View, Missouri.

The fourth of eight children, Juanita received her elementary education at a one-room schoolhouse at Stoney Point and then attended Birch Tree High School, graduating in 1951. She met and married Bobby Ray Wood in 1954, while both worked for Englander Mattress Company in St. Louis, Missouri. She and Bob lived in St. Louis until 1963 when they moved to Birch Tree, where they lived for the next 59 years.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Dorothy Norris and her husband, Gene, Norma Jean Pohl and her husband, Robert, Rosa Lee Nix and her husband, Leroy, and Pearl Etherton and her husband, Ed; three brothers Paul Cooper, Murrell Cooper and his wife, Lula Mae, and Daniel Archie Cooper.

Surviving are her husband, Bobby; her daughter, Janice Tappana and husband, Bob of Columbia, MO; her son, David Wood and wife, Linda of Birch Tree, MO; grandchildren, Jeremy Wood and wife, Lois of Mountain View, MO, Elizabeth Tappana-Taylor of Columbia, MO, Stephen Tappana and wife, Amanda of Sturgeon, MO, Heath Wood and wife, Faron of Mountain View, MO, Katrina Tripp and husband, Douglas of Mountain View, Andrew Tappana and wife, Jessica of Columbia, MO; sister-in-law, Emily Engelhard of St. Peters, MO; brothers-in-law, Harry Wood of Arnold, MO, and Jim Wood and wife Pat of Foristell, MO; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
