Julia W. “Joyce” Turner, 75 years, 5 months, 3 days old, went home to Heaven on April 6, 2023 at home with her family by her side.
Joyce was born November 3, 1947 in Gainesville, MO to Glen and Eva (Hitchcock) Turner.
On December 23, 1964 Joyce and Lester “Tony” Turner were united in marriage in Ava by the Reverend Tom Johnson, and together they were blessed with a daughter, Teresa, in 1968. Joyce and Tony moved from Ava to Kansas City in August 1964. Joyce started her career in Kansas City with T.W.A . (Trans World Airlines) in April of 1972. She was promoted numerous times and one year awarded nationwide Employee of the Year. She retired from T.W. A. in November of 1997 as a Security Data Administrator. After moving back to the Ava area, she and Tony bought a farm in the Squires community. Joyce became a Real Estate Agent in 1998 with Centery 21. She was awarded Top Sales Agent of the region seven times. She retired in December, 2011. She enjoyed working and loved people, and it showed. Joyce loved to care for her flower gardens and landscaping in her flowerbeds! She always supported and helped Tony serve in his ministries that began in Dearborn, MO then Hamilton, MO. It became the Set Free Bible Church after they moved back to Ava. Due to Tony’s health, they sold the farm and moved into the city limits of Ava. This past summer of 2022 they moved in with her daughter, Teresa and son-in-law, Trampas Miller.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester “Tony”; grandson, Landen Nic-Cole Johnson; two sisters, Liz and Brenda.
She is survived by her daughter and husband, Teresa & Trampas Miller; fives siblings, Darlene Rogers, Paul & Ginger Turner, Dale & Sharon Turner, Elois Hancock and Donis Turner; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Joyce will be Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri with burial following in the Sweden Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to service from 1:00 p.m. to service time. Officiating will be Pastor Buddy Boyd. Family requests memorials to the Sweden Cemetery.
