Junior H. McVay

Junior was born June 25, 1924 in Monett, Missouri to John and Joyce (Hall) McVay.

Junior was a Veteran of the United States Army. He served in World War II and was awarded several medals including a Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart.

Junior and Faye (Harvey) McVay were united in marriage on July 27, 1946 in Couer D’Alene, Idaho. Together they had three daughters, Sherry, Kathy, and Judy.

He worked as a manager at MFA in Mansfield, Missouri and retired after twenty five years. Junior enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling to the mountains, and mushroom hunting.  He especially loved watching his grandchildren participating in their athletic endeavors. Junior was a Christian and a member of the Highway Church of the Nazarene and The Gideons International.  His grandkids asked him what he would want people to remember him for, and he said, “I loved God,  I loved my family, and I loved this country.”

Junior was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack McVay; half brothers, Raymond, Doc and Everett Rippee and half sister, Otha Hall.

Junior is survived by his wife, Faye; daughters Sherry and Claude Robertson of Ava, Kathy and Randy Sell of Ozark, and Judy and Fred Keith of Mansfield; grandchildren, Angela Robertson of Branson, Rachel and Cody Prock of Ava, Carrie and Andy Beasley of Cave Springs, Arkansas, Todd and Carissa Sell of Nixa, Chad Keith of Mansfield, Adam and Nikki Keith of Nixa; great grandchildren, Savannah and Brandon Hammond, Collin Jenkins, Caden and Connor Prock, Carter, Brayden, and Eli Beasley, Kinsley Sell, Mya, Eden and Jack Keith; sister, Acenath Morgan of Woodland, Washington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Junior will be Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava, Missouri. Visitation will be at 1:30 until service time. Burial will be in the Dyer cemetery. Military Honors are being conducted by Troy Herd American Legion Post 112.  Officiating will be Pastor Brian Letsinger and Pastor Larry Scott.  Memorials may be made to Gideons International or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
