Kenneth Lane Burrus

Kenneth Lane Burrus was born to James Delmar “Doc” and Georgia Louise (McConnell) Burrus on March 14, 1950, in West Eminence, Missouri. He entered Heaven at 11:15 p.m. on April 1, 2023, at the age of 73.

He was united in marriage to Iva Jean (Burnham) Burrus on June 19, 1970. To this union, a daughter and son were born, Christina Elane Shepherd and Jason Lane Burrus.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Georgia Burrus; his beloved wife, Jean Burrus; and brother, Don Burrus.

He is survived by his daughter, Christy Shepherd of Eminence, MO; grandson, Dylan Lane Shepherd and wife, Whitney (Ritter) Shepherd of Eminence; his son, Jason and wife, Nancy (Piatt) Burrus; grandchildren, Rebecca Jo and Levi Lane of Eminence; two sisters, Linna Wood of Eminence, and Judy Thomas of Flordia; four brothers, Bill Burrus and wife, Maxine, Jack Burrus and wife, Betty, and Tom Burrus all of Eminence, and Richard Burrus and wife, Sherry of Fair Play, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Kenny was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandad/papa. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and being in the great outdoors with his family and friends. Some of his fondest memories happened around the “burn barrel” at the family’s beloved cabin. He was a rock and solid foundation that his family relied on. He had a love for adventure, whether it was a trip to town or to Wyoming hunting. His kind and gentle spirit showed his love toward his family and the people he met. He and his brothers could be found hanging out in Bill’s garage, tinkering on something and solving the world’s problems. He loved and enjoyed each of his MODOT coworkers.
