Lena Marie Johnson

Lena Marie (Henley) Johnson, 77, of Eminence, Missouri passed away on September 17, 2024, at her home. She was born April 5, 1947, in Ravanna, Missouri to Clarence and Rosalee (Snyder) Henley. She graduated from Ravanna High School in 1965.

Marie was united in marriage to Ron Johnson on February 19, 1972, and to this union, two children were born, Travis Johnson and Tammie Johnson. Marie farmed with Ron for many years in Iowa, until they relocated to Eminence Missouri in 1985. Over the years Marie has worked several jobs and owned several businesses, including a convenience store, a clothing store, and a US cellular store.

Marie loved her church where she was very involved in the activities. She looked forward to playing the piano at church each Sunday. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Shannon County Museum.

Marie’s biggest pride and joy were her grandkids. She loved to hear about what they were doing in life and was one of their biggest supporters in everything they did. When the grandkids were growing up, she always looked forward to their summer visits and made sure they had an action-packed vacation while they were with her and Ron. Marie enjoyed visiting with friends, tending to her flowers, and was always up for getting out and about and going on any adventure. She was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, and friend.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Ron Johnson; her parents, Clarence and Rosalee Henley; her brothers, Paul Henley, Glen Henley, Phillip Henley, E.J. Henley, and Forest Henley; her sisters, Lucy Hamilton, Mary Jane Shields, Anita Slattery, and Margie McIntosh; her mother-in-law, Ruberta Silcott; fathers-in-law, Ralph Johnson, and Tommy Silcott; and her sister-in-law, Kay Johnson.

Marie is survived by her son, Travis Johnson of Eminence, MO; daughter, Tammie Johnson (Rick Kunzie) of Winterset, IA; grandson, Colton Brazeal of Corydon, IA; granddaughter, Lexi Brazeal of Winterset, IA; sister, Ruth Meredith of Prescott, AZ; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She will be deeply missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri, with Pastor Paul Wellinghoff officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Corydon Cemetery, Corydon, Iowa. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com
