Lillie Ray Jackson

Lillie Ray (Friend) Jackson, 88 years, 7 months, and 2 days, passed to heaven on May 2, 2022 at her home with family by her side.

Lillie was born September 30, 1933 in Theodosia, Missouri to George Edward and Carrie Anna Mae (Shockey) Friend.

Lillie lived in the Ava community since 1964 moving from the Kansas City area. On December 22, 1952 Lillie (Friend) and Athel Jackson were united in marriage in Harrison, AR and to this union one daughter, Linda was born.

She worked at the Shirt Factory and Baxter Lab in Arkansas.  She also worked at Rockbridge Trout Ranch, along with a variety of other jobs.  She worked along side Athel in farming dairy and beef cattle.

She was a member of the Pine Ridge Church of Christ.

She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her cousins Ada, Elma, Wanda and Lucille.  She also enjoyed listening to bluegrass music.  Before she lost her eye sight she enjoyed sewing, quilting, woodworking, and other handcrafts.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Athel, two brothers, Everett and Jess Friend, and one sister Georgia Bishop.

She is survived by her daughter & husband, Linda & Terry Howerton, Ava, MO, granddaughter Lydia and husband Michael Jahrling,  grandson Montana and wife Kuyla Howerton, Ava, MO, great granddaughters Lilyana Jahrling and Zannah Shields, and great grandson Jimmy Athel Howerton; four sisters,  Eva and husband Noel Scott of Oldfield,MO, Margaret Wright of Nixa, MO, Kathy Curtis of Ava, MO, Dorothy and husband David Crosby of Ava, MO, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
