Lyle Dean Scherer was born December 8, 1949 in Drury, Missouri to parents Pete and Beulah (Wrinkles) Scherer. He passed away May 17, 2023 at the age of 73 at his home in Gentryville.
On August 10, 1970 he was married to Bertha Hurst.
Dean was a Christian and had been baptized. He was a member of the Pottersville Baptist Church.
Dean was in the Army from 1970 to 1972. He worked for Douglas County Road and Bridge for serveral years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, listening to bluegrass music, and visiting with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Wanda Woolman; infant brother Basil Wrinkles; four sisters-in-law, Oneal Luellen, Agnes Williams, Anna Collins, and Ella May Dougherty; brother-in-law Billy Hurst.
Dean is survived by his wife, Bertha; a sister, Linda Mozie; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews; several friends and one special dog, Bitsy.
Funeral services for Dean will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Chapel in Ava, Missouri . Visitation will be prior to service from 1:00 p.m. to service time. Burial will be in the Hurst Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Jerry Arnold. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hurst Cemetery.
