The Cardinals were defeated by a walk-off sacrifice fly in a 6-5 ten-inning loss to the Reds in Cincinnati. The Cardinals trailed by a run entering the top of the eighth, but Paul DeJong hit a game-tying double to send the game to extras. However, Spencer Steer scored on Nick Senzel’s sacrifice fly in the tenth to give Cincinnati the win. Ryan Helsley was charged with his third loss in relief, while DeJong had a home run and four RBI in the losing effort. The Cardinals remain fourth in the NL Central at 21-and-28. Adam Wainwright starts for St. Louis against Cincinnati tonight.
