Madge Freeman, daughter of the late Fred and Lena (Franklin) Melton, was born February 23, 1930, in Tarkio, Missouri, and departed this life November 7, 2023. She was 93 years, 8 months, and 15 days of age.
Madge graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1948. She attended college at Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Madge taught at several rural schools and also Mountain Grove Head Start and 3rd grade at Mountain Grove Elementary School.
Madge was united in marriage to Leonard Freeman in 1952. They spent 70 years together before Leonard’s passing in 2022. They enjoyed travelling and went on many adventures together other the years such as, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska, Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises including Italy, Greece, and Turkey.
Madge joined the First Free Will Baptist Church of Mountain Grove in 1953, where she served as Sunday School teacher and taught Bible School for many years. Her love for the Lord was evident in the daily life she exemplified.
Besides her parents, Madge was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Freeman, two brothers, Darrel and Merrel, and five sisters, Gladys, Ernestine, Ollia Mae, Maxine, and Ruth.
Madge is survived by one sister, Wanda Prock, one brother, Glen Melton and wife, Christine, one sister-in-law, Katie Freeman, several nieces and nephews, and other friends and church family who will dearly miss her.
