Noble Duane Lewis

Noble Duane Lewis, 84, of Sturkie, Arkansas passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Springfield, Missouri. Noble was born on June 4, 1939, to Arby Woods Lewis and Verna Flossie (Fout) Lewis in Hand, Arkansas.

Noble was united in marriage to Carolyn Harlene Hutchison on August 4, 1965, in Sturkie, Arkansas, and to this union two children were born. Noble spent his working years as a telephone technician with CenturyTel for over twenty-seven years and served his country in the United States Army. He loved his family, community, and helping the youth of the community through the fair and serving as a 4-H leader. Noble helped Carolyn with the Fulton County Fair for over 50 years and served on the Fulton County Fair Board for over 40 years. He also helped with the District Fair and served as a board member for the Arkansas State Fair Livestock Association. Noble was a member of the Ozark Gateway Tourist Council and was a volunteer with the Sturkie VFD. Noble played music for several years with the Rhythm Makers and the Southfork Express. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and was a member of the Salem Church of Christ in Salem, Arkansas.

Noble leaves to mourn his passing wife, Carolyn Lewis of the home; son, Kevin Lewis and wife Angelyne of Jonesborough, Tennessee; daughter, Tanya Sharp and husband John of Lowell, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Cameron Woods Lewis, Alyssabeth Angelyn “Allybeth” Lewis, John David Sharp II, and James Lewis Sharp; three brothers, Kenneth Howard Lewis of Sturkie, Arkansas, Noel Wayborn “Dick” Lewis of Warsaw, Missouri, and Melvin Dean “Pete” Lewis and wife Kay of Sturkie, Arkansas; two sisters, Anita Mae Warden of Ash Flat, Arkansas and Marsha Diane Lewis of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (William Ewing “Bill” Lewis), brother-in-law (Roy Laverne Hutchison), and three sisters-in-law (Dorthy Mae Standley Hutchison, Dorothy Ann Kimbrel Lewis, and Mary Nell Riney Lewis).

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Salem Church of Christ in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. David Gibson and Bro. Mike Yates officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Friday, December 29, 2023, at Salem Church of Christ. The interment will be in the Wiseman Cemetery in Wiseman, Arkansas. The pallbearers will be David Lewis, Ken Warden, Eric Lewis, Shane Lewis, Chase Lewis, Carson York, and Layton York. Honorary pallbearers will be the Fair Board of Directors and their spouses and the Zeta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi members and their spouses. Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Fair Foundation for scholarships and improvements to the fairgrounds. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
