Phillip V. Portwood, Sr. of Doniphan, MO, passed away on October 9, 2024, in Poplar Bluff, MO.
Phil was born to Phillip M. and Violet (nee Sharp) on November 7, 1953, in Hayti, MO. After serving in the Air Force, he joined the UAW and worked for Chrysler Corporation until his retirement in 2009.
Phil is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy (nee Cooper), and five children: sons, Phillip, Jr., Mark (Linda), James (Jill), and Greg (Keith) Portwood, and daughter, Shauna (Gregory) VandeDrink; siblings: Yonnie Coffman, Deborah Adamson, Alex (Connie) Portwood, Donna Pieber, Mary (Ricky) Steingruby, Danny (Terry) Scroggins, David (Carla) Scroggins, and Amber Scroggins, and one brother-in-law, Daniel (Cecelia) Cooper. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Rebecca, Jessica (Levi), Dylan, Alexis, Joseph (Brittny), Alana, Bella, and Jasper; six great-grandchildren: Aurora, Rhett, Nora, Jameson, LJ, and Apollo; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Angela Hogan; stepfather, Rev. AD Scroggins; sister, Lisa Portwood; and two brothers, Dale and Harry Scroggins.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
