Reva Kay Wright, 84-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Thursday, October 24, 2024. She was born October 11, 1940, in Williamsville, MO, to the late Virgil and Wilma (Costephens) Keele.
A dedicated elementary school teacher of 20 years with Ripley County Schools, Reva had a profound influence on the lives of many in Ripley County. She loved to read and enjoyed sharing that interest with her students, her own children and grandchildren, fostering a lifelong appreciation of literature and learning. She cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Fishing and traveling with her husband, Bert, was one of her favorite pastimes.
On September 9, 1961, Reva married Bert Wright, and they had marked 63 years of this union before he passed away just a couple of weeks before Reva. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Kane, and brother, Wesley “Bud” Keele.
Surviving are her son, Gary (Terri) Wright, and daughter, Jackie (Gary) Thornton; grandchildren, Christi (Jeff) Johnson, Brian (Jill) Wright, Matthew (Laura) Thornton, and Michael (Jennifer) Thornton; and great-grandchildren, Cody (Kayla) Johnson, Kaylynn and Claire Johnson, Briley, Jessie and Brenna Kate Wright, Luke, Jack and Juliet Thornton, and Kaden and Aaron Thornton; and great-great-grandchildren, Dawson and Baby Liam Edward Johnson. Also surviving are her sisters, Joanne Hicks of Williamsville and Geneva Keele of Ellsinore, MO.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 28, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at noon. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery with Brother Roy Pepmiller and Father Samson officiating.
