Ray Gilbreath, 93, of rural Ash Flat, Arkansas passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025 at his home. He was born September 20, 1931 near Ash Flat to Marion and Eliza Martin Gilbreath, both who preceded him in death as did five brothers: Floyd, Russell, Bertis. Gerald, and Virgil, four sisters: Claudine, Virgie Mae, Margie, and Icapheen, and his wife Devene Holstine Gilbreath, whom he married December 19, 1953.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Foster (Phillip); his son, Michael Gilbreath; four grandchildren: Jonathan, Ivy Beth, Michael Jr., and Isabella; two great-grandchildren, Jaylee and Selena; a sister, Helen Benton; and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
Ray was a natural outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, birdwatching, and taking walks. His passion was music, especially the harmonica; he won three first place awards in competitions at Hardy, Arkansas. He was also gifted in crafting unique sumac walking canes for members of his family and many good friends. Ray will be missed but fondly remembered.
