Richard Douglas Gonzales

Richard was born November 30, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Jessie and Esther (Schultz) Gonzales.

He was a VietnamVeteran having served in the United States Navy for nine years.

Richard and Rubie Ann Mehl were united in marriage in Lancaster, California on April 12, 2003.

He was a retired machine operator with LaBrea Bakery out of Torrance, California. He worked there for several years. He was a member of the American Legion in California. Richard and Rubie moved to the Ava community three years ago. Together they enjoyed the outdoors. He also loved working with wood and created several tables, benches, shelving, stands and other creations. Richard loved to go hunting and target shooting. He also loved collecting antiques and coins. Richard was a Catholic and prayed daily. He was a devoted husband, father and adored his family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Rubie; his two daughters and their spouses, Alicia & Josh Pruitt and Andrea & Jordan Bevan; three grandchildren, Christian Pruitt, Wyatt Bevan and Elizabeth Bevan; two brothers, Steve Anthony and Mark Gonzales; other relatives and friends.  Richard also had a special bond with Travis & Julie Cheney and their children.

Cremation services for Richard are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO per Richard’s request with no services. Family requests any memorials to the American Cancer Society.
