Rose M. (Jerrell) Lucas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted nurse, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on August 14, 2026, in Mountain View, Missouri. She was born on September 23, 1958, in Tampa, Florida, and lived a life defined by compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.
She built an extraordinary nursing career spanning more than 47 years. Rose retired in 2020, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional care and compassion. Many patients specifically requested her, a reflection of the trust, comfort, and kindness she brought to every interaction. Rose was more than a nurse-she was a source of comfort, encouragement, and hope during some of life’s most difficult moments.
While Rose was a remarkable nurse, her most cherished roles were being called, a Wife, Mom, Mimi, Grandma, and G-Slice. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family.
She shared 12 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Mike Lucas, and took immense pride in her children. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Alex J. Jerrell, Jr. and Betty Rose Jerrell; her step-mother, Bonnie Jerrell; her son, Justin Austin; her mother-in-law, Karen Wells, and her brother-in-law, Frankie Stringer.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Lucas; her children, Stacy Austin, Lawanda “Cricket” Anderson (Murray), Brian Lucas (Becky), and Dusti Lucas (Keith); her brother, Eddie Jerrell (Barbara); her sister, Carolyn Stringer; five grandchildren, Emily J. Austin, Shawn Roach, Christian Anderson (Tamrah), Murray Anderson, Jr., and Aleisha Bender; and several great-grandchildren.
More than anything, Rose will be remembered for the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Whether caring for patients, supporting friends, or loving her family, she gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, strength, and love.
