Shirley A. Creed

Shirley Ann Creed, daughter of the late Frank and Vera (Turner) Sellars was born on March 12, 1939 near Mtn. Grove and went to be with our Lord and Savior on Jan. 8, 2023 at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 27 days in the Autumn Oaks Care Center in Mtn. Grove, MO.

Shirley worked various jobs during her lifetime; including, Jerry’s Menswear, The Flower Basket, Brown Shoe, Paramount Hat Company and finally as a cook at the Mtn. Grove Elementary School before retiring.  She loved her work and interacting with the children there.  She was known as “Granny” to almost everyone who met her; that was her most important job, just being Granny.

Before her health declined, she enjoyed making flower arrangements, gardening, garage sales, word search puzzles, going to the lake and camping with her family, watching Hallmark movies and most of all spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved her family fiercely and she loved life.

Shirley loved the Lord and was saved and baptized at an early age.  She had attended Glendale Church, Victory Tabernacle Ministries and most recently Cross Roads of Faith Church as long as her health permitted.

Shirley was united in marriage to Ralph E. Nettleton in 1956 and two children came from this union, Debbie and Ralph David.  She later married John Creed and they spent many happy years together.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John; her daughter, Debbie Mings and three brothers-in-law, Ray Newberry, Cleon Browning and Harold Edwards.  She is survived by her son, Ralph David Nettleton and wife, Doris; 4 grandchildren, Chris Synder and wife, Audri, Shannon McGowan, Cheree Linton and husband, Josh and Shane Nettleton and wife, TyAnn; 11 great grandchildren, Kyerra Synder, Gunner Synder, Darren Proctor, Sadie Proctor, Ashley McGowan, Gavin Linton, Aubree Linton, Emma Linton, Caseten Nettleton, Atlee Nettleton, Treven Nettleton, Treysen Nettleton; one recent great great grandson, Ash Silas Proctor; her siblings, Doris Jean Edwards, Evelyn Sue Browning, Carolyn Newberry, Nolan (Sonny) Sellars and Mary Jo; an adopted sister, Judy Talbot; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends that will sadly miss her.
