Shirley Pauline Vanderbilt, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2020, while at Willow Care Nursing Home. She was born February 11, 1943 to Francis Marion and Ola (Keeler) Hunter in Wichita, KS and was 77 years old.
Shirley grew up in Wichita where she attended the local area schools and graduated from high school. She enjoyed being a homemaker, as well as farming, dancing, bowling, and cooking; however, her favorite pastime was planting and caring for her flowers. She enjoyed going to church and was a faithful member of the Burnham General Baptist Church. It has been said she was fun to be around, had a great personality, and was loved by many. She will be greatly missed by her family, her friends, and all who knew her.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ivan Morfitt, Jr., her ex-husband, Roy Vanderbilt; and her siblings: John Hunter, Georgie Cole, Goldie Hunter, Gloria Reiz, Joe Hunter, and Marion Hunter.
She is survived by her brother, Jim Hunter; two sisters, Kay Roberts and Marilyn Crown; her children: Lori Clinton and her husband, Coy; Ivan Morfitt and his wife, Marianne; and Jennifer Abbott. Further survivors include her grandchildren: Daniel Morfitt, Jeramy Lacey, and Audrey McQuery and her husband, Dan. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Isaiah, Isabella, Skyla, Aaidan, Kaidyn, Athena, and Lilleth, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be hosting a “going away party” in Shirley’s memory in July of 2020 in Wichita, KS. The time and place for her memorial service will be announced at a later date.
