Sydney Rees Jenkins, 81 years, 6 months, 20 days old, passed away on July 25, 2024, at her home in Ava with her family by her side.
Sydney was born January 5, 1943, in Scott City, Kansas to Frank and Velma (Pearce) Evans.
Sydney was raised in Oakley, Kansas. She met Lyle Jenkins during a visit with her sister and husband, Sandra and Ralph Turley in Ava. On March 3, 1963, Sydney and Jesse Lyle Jenkins were united in marriage in Oakley, Kansas, and together were blessed with two sons, Jimmy and Jerry.
Early in their marriage, Sydney worked as a hairdresser in Ava. She also worked hard on the farm with Lyle for many years. Sydney enjoyed playing games, reading, and gardening. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lyle; a sister, Sandra Turley; two brothers, Leland Evans and Thomas Evans; and her grandson, Joshua Allen Jenkins.
Sydney is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Jenkins, Jerry Jenkins; daughter in law, Lisa Joseph; grandchildren, Jessica Jenkins, Julie Jenkins and Thomas Jenkins; great grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Janae, and Daniel; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Sydney will be Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Missouri, with burial following in the Denney Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening, July 29th from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Brother Carl Barrus. Memorials may be made to the Denney Cemetery.
