Sylvia Marie Fleetwood, 91 years, 6 months, 9 days old, passed peacefully to Heaven on March 9, 2024 at her home with family by her side.
Sylvia was born August 30, 1932 in Stone County, MO to Emory and Mary (Keithley) Maples.
Sylvia was the third of 14 children. She was raised in Stone and Christian Counties in MO. She attended schools in the districts of Clever and Nixa.
On March 6, 1959, Sylvia and Dave William Fleetwood were united in marriage in Ava, MO by Rev. Earnest Hamby. Together they were blessed with a son, Robert William. After they were married they settled on the family farm in Squires, where she became a farm wife and later, mother to their son. She was well known for the plants and farm produce she sold in the area for many years. She was also known for her famous homemade cinnamon rolls that everyone loved. Sylvia helped raise nieces and nephews throughout her life time.
She was a Christian and a member of the Murray Church, where she taught Sunday School and attended regularly until her health prevented it. She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave in 2008; her sisters, June Hamilton, Katy Harvill, and Tonya Keithley; her brothers, Chester, Wilford, Freddy, and Keith Maples; and her brothers and sisters in-laws.
Sylvia is survived by her son, Robert “Bobby” Fleetwood; sisters, Virginia Rogers, Janice Kee, Dixie Souttee, and Nelda Williams; brothers, Aubrey and Steve Maples; special friends, Heather and Ray Hoffmaster, a big host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Funeral services for Sylvia will be Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Murray Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday prior to the service at 1:00 P.M. Officiating will be Pastor Doug Irwin. Memorials may be made to Murray Cemetery.
