Memorial Services for Teena Marie Hire, Age 68 of Springfield, Missouri will be held on Friday, July 31st, 2026 at The Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mansfield, Missouri, beginning at 2:00 PM. Teena Marie (Stokes) Hire, daughter of the late William Henry and Helen Marie (Colvard) Stokes, born September 13, 1957, in Springfield, Missouri, departed this life July 20, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri, at the age of 68 years, 10 months, and 7 days.
Teena grew up in Springfield, Missouri, as one of 15 children on the family farm. She grew up working alongside her siblings on the farm, where she loved riding bicycles and learning how to fix things. She attended Willard High School and graduated in the class of 1975. In 1981, she was united in marriage to Valmer Ellis Hire, and to this union two sons were born. Teena began to work with her husband at their auto body shop, where they spent many years repairing cars together.
Her love for automobiles extended well beyond her profession, remaining a favorite pastime. When she wasn’t under the hood, Teena found joy in the outdoors, tending to her garden, sewing, and making blankets. Above all else, her greatest joy was simply spending time with her beloved family.
Teena was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Valmer Ellis Hire, her parents, William and Helen Stokes, two brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Travis Hire of Mansfield, Missouri, Trampus Hire and his wife, Jodi Hire, of Wake Village, Texas, her grandchildren, Dakotah Hire of Omaha, Arkansas, Bryan Hire, Archer Hire, and Adalind Hire of Wake Village, Texas, three brothers, and six sisters. She is also survived by an abundance of stepchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Teena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her daily presence will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
