Willamae Larson, age 96, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, most recently of Willow Springs, Missouri, passed away on October 14, 2022, at Mountain View Healthcare, Mountain View, Missouri. She was born January 25, 1926, in Herrin, Illinois, the daughter of William and Beulah (Roberts) Hawkins.
At the age of two, her family moved to Kenosha, where she received her education, graduating from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1944.
In 1945, she was married to George Robert (Bob) Larson at the First Baptist Church of Kenosha. She was employed by Nash Motors and Simmons Company as a secretary. Taking time out to have children, she returned to work in 1961 as a bookkeeper for the American Red Cross, retiring in 1986. From 1977 to 1987, she and her husband had a flourishing seasonal greenhouse operation.
When her children were young, she was active in PTA and also served as a 4H leader. When the Bradford High School A Cappella Choir, of which her son was a member, was invited to sing in the Oslo Cathedral in Oslo, Norway, she served as a chaperone.
Willamae enjoyed reading, genealogy, quilting, and working jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to travel. Her happiest times were when she was with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were so much a part of her life. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha.
She is survived by her son, Robert (Galina) Larson of Camp Hill, PA; four grandchildren, William Johnson and Kristyne (David) Bennet, both of Willow Springs, MO, and Matthew Larson and Stephanie Larson, both of Camp Hill, PA; seven great-grandchildren, Grace, Paige, Megan, Dustin, Darcy, Zachary, and Elijah.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her daughter, Linda Johnson; and two sisters, Mary A. Jacobson and Doris Frederick.
A private service is planned at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church 1803 83rd Street, Kenosha, WI 53143, or the American Cancer Society ACSWI-Racine RFL PO Box 902, Pewaukee, WI 53072.
