(Kansas City, MO) — The Chiefs are adding a familiar face to their injury-depleted secondary. Veteran cornerback Steven Nelson is coming out of retirement to sign to Kansas City’s practice squad. Nelson played the first four seasons of his nine-year NFL career with the Chiefs after being selected by the team in the third round of the 2015 draft. He has played nine seasons split between the Chiefs, Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans. The 31-year-old has 456 tackles and 13 interceptions in 130 career games.

The Chiefs are coming off a 19-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football. Patrick Mahomes passed for 210 yards and a touchdown in the team’s third straight victory.
