The Liberty Eagle Boys Basketball team traveled to the seat of Oregon County, Alton to take on the Alton Comets this past Friday night, January 24th, 2025. This preceded an impressive 64-46 win @ Eminence on Tuesday night. Tonight, Liberty scores yet another victory and winning the Game by a Final score of 68-50.
1st Quarter: Liberty takes an early 5-0 lead as Gavin Reese fouls and shoots two at the line. After this, a two hander by Alex Tune. The lead changes to 8-0 as Jaiden Sisco puts the Alton Comets on the board. Alton rebounds it and the ball gets down to Kaden Willard who puts it up and in for three. Gavin Reese gets it back for Liberty and scores another three but taken back by the Comets as Willard scores on yet another three. Reese and tune are able to score several threes in combination with Sisco and Willard for the comets, Liberty holds the lead 24-15 at the end of one.
2nd Quarter: A nice three by Kaiden Willard for the Alton Comets followed by another three by Alex Tune commences the second quarter. The ball narrows down to a four point game as the Comets pick up the defensive pressure and triple teaming. Kaiden Lee continues to score big for the Comets. Liberty tries to pick up pressure with blocking as Corban Tharp tries to score and initiates contact on the defensive end, but Liberty continues to pick up their own defensive pressure. Liberty tries to steal it back at the end of the half but goes to the locker room with the Halftime score, 34-26.
3rd Quarter: Another three pointer out of the gate for Parker Tune. On rebound, Willard and Tharp score four more to trail by seven. Liberty is able to make it to a point game midway through, but cut down to one with another three pointer by Willard. Rebound maintained by Liberty and another three pointer by Parker Tune. Corban Tharp who has scored at least five of four of his twelve points scores two more for the Comets at the free throw line. Liberty is able to be up by their biggest lead of the game, twenty-five points as Gavin Reese scores on a deep three pointer. The score, 51-35.
4th Quarter: A foul on the Liberty Eagles and two shot at the line by Corban Tharp for the Alton Comets. Ball is taken back by Brian Thompson who scores on a long three pointer. Tharp goes back to the line after another foul but picked back up by the Eagles for another three pointer by Alex Tune. The first points of the second half scored with a two pointer by Kaden Clary for the Alton comets as they trail now, 57–40 with under six minutes to go in the ballgame. Eagles are able to go up as many as ten more points with another set of three pointers by Alex and Parker Tune.
