The Willow Springs Bears welcomed the Mansfield Lions to town Friday night. It was Hoop Queen for the Bears. The Bears and Lions traded baskets to start the game, then Willow Springs took control of the first quarter. The Bears rebounded well and shot the ball efficently to take a 12-7 lead after the first quarter.
Mansfield started the second quarter on a 4-0 run to get within one point. The Bears responded and did not relinquish the lead. Willow Springs maintained the lead while they traded baskets with the Lions for part of the quarter. The Bears were able to gain a bit of separation by halftime leading the Lions, 30-17.
During the third quarter the Bears continued to build on their lead. Each team traded scoring runs, but the Bears held the Lions at bay. Willow Springs lead the Lions 53-34 after three quarters. The Lions made a comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, after trailing by 19. Mansfield was able to get witihin nine points during the fourth quarter, The Bears however, were able to respond and would go on to win 64-52. Willow Springs is now (7-9) on the season.
Willow Springs will be back in action on Tuesday, facing the Hartville Eagles at 4:00 pm and it will be on the FOX 96.9.
