The Willow Springs Bears welcomed the Mountain Grove Panthers to town on Friday night. It was a slow start for both teams. Mountain Grove was hampered by turnovers for most the of the first quarter and the half. The scoring picked up halfway through the first quarter for both teams. Mountain Grove led after the first quarter 14-12.
The Panthers continued efficient three point shooting in the second quarter. Mountain Grove began the quarter on a 7-0 scoring run and built a 10 point lead. Their lead stayed at 10 for most of the second quarter. The Bears struggled to get into a rhythm offensively before halftime and trailed 31-19 after two quarters,
During the third quarter, the game played out similarly to the second quarter. Mountain Grove continued to score efficiently, while the Bears struggled to shoot the ball. The Panthers were able to build a 20 point lead in the third quarter, leading 47-27 after three quarters.
The Bears fought back in the fourth quarter and dwindled the lead to 14, but the Panthers proved to be too much and won, 60-41. Willow Springs falls to (9-14) on the season. The Bears will travel to play the Gainesville Bulldogs, tomorrow Saturday, Febreuary 10th. The game will be on KUKU with an anticipated start time of 2 pm.
