Braves 8, Cardinals 4

The Cardinals surrendered five second-inning runs during an 8-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves at Busch Stadium. Jordan Woodford got roughed up in his first loss, giving up seven hits and six runs in four-and-a-third innings. Paul Goldschmidt went deep in the losing effort, and the Cardinals fell to 2-and-2. Steven Matz takes the hill for St. Louis against Atlanta tonight.

A Cardinals fan-favorite is heading to the injured list. Outfielder Lars Nootbaar was placed on the ten-day IL yesterday because of a left thumb contusion. The move is retroactive to March 31st. Juan Yepez was called up to replace Nootbaar in the interim. Yepez hit .253 with 12 home runs and 30 RBI last season.
