The St. Louis Cardinals surrendered four runs in the top of the fourth during a 7-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium. St. Louis got out to a quick lead with two runs in the bottom of the first before Milwaukee’s outburst in the fourth. Drew Rom lasted just three-and-a-third innings after giving up five runs on six hits, and he was charged with his third loss. Richie Palacios went deep in the losing effort. The Cardinals are in fifth place in the NL Central at 67-and-84, and they were officially eliminated from playoff contention with the loss. Zack Thompson starts for St. Louis against Milwaukee tonight.
