The Cardinals out-slugged the Los Angeles Dodgers during a 16-8 win at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals led 9-8 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning before scoring seven runs to take control of the contest. Willson Contreras and Nolan Gorman both went deep during the inning, and they both homered twice during the game. Juan Yepez, Nolan Arenado, and Paul DeJong also hit home runs in the victory as the Cardinals homered four times in the third inning. Adam Wainwright earned his first win of the season.
St. Louis has won six of seven, still in last place in the NL Central at 19-and-26, but now just six games behind the Brewers and one each behind Chicago and Cincinnati for third place. They send Steven Matz to the mound against Los Angeles tonight.
