The Royals were unable to close out their series against the Cubs with a win. Kansas City lost to Chicago 7-3 in the finale of a three-game set at Kauffman Stadium. Hunter Renfroe put the Royals on the board with a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning. Freddy Fermin hit his fifth home run of the season in the setback. Starting pitcher Cole Ragans was charged with the loss and dropped to 7-and-7 after striking out seven and allowing four runs through five-and-two-thirds innings. The Royals have lost four of five and sit third in the AL Central at 57-and-49. They travel to play the Chicago White Sox tonight. Right-hander Alec Marsh will start opposite Chicago righty Chris Flexen.
