The Royals needed some late-game magic, and John Rave provided it, hitting a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to tie Arizona at two. Vinnie Pasquantino’s sacrifice fly in the tenth put Kansas City back even at three, but Arizona scored in the 11th and beat the Royals for the second time in extra innings, 5-3.
Michael Wacha set a career high, reaching 182 2/3 innings pitched this season after throwing six-scoreless innings.
