Garylee has sports with zizzer district track champs

West Plains Zizzer boys along with the Marshfield girls picked up the Class 4 District 6 team titles this past Saturday at Nixa. West plains scored 162 points well ahead of the 117 points from the runner-up Bolivar. West Plains Zizzer Carson King won the 800 by three-hundredths of a second with a winning time of 1:59.23 that edged out Carl Junction’s Jack Lawson and his 1:59.26. The Zizzers had six first place finishes, Jackson Free took both the 1,600 (4:30) and 3,200 (9:46) Lincoln Miller won the 200 (22.60) and West Plains’ 4 x 100 (43.00) and 4x 200 (1:29.32) both were first place wins.

In celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week, the Eleven Point Ranger District of the Mark Twain National Forest will host a youth fishing day at Ripley Lake, weather permitting, on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Participation is open to all kids ages 2-15. Fishing licenses are not required June 8 and 9, 2024 throughout the state of Missouri, but size and daily limits still apply. The free event will take place from 8 a.m. to noon. Door prizes will be provided to the first 50 kids. The Missouri Department of Conservation and the U.S. Forest Service have limited fishing gear to provide, so participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment and bait.

 

 

West Plains Zizzer Lane Hicks has committed to the Lyon College baseball program. Districts for the West Plains Zizzers will be played in Branson and the Zizzers will take on Bolivar Wed at 6pm. The game will air on KDY 102.5.

 

Saturday, May 25, the West Plains Sunrise Rotary Club will host the 22nd Annual Tom Smith Sunrise Rotary Classic at North Terra Golf Course. The golf tournament will start at 10 a.m. and is a 3-person scramble. Registration is open at $225 per team. You can call 417-256-9824 to register. There will be cash prizes in all the flights. $500 for first, $300 for second, and $200 for third. There are also numerous hole prizes, one of which is a 2024 Club Car Golf Cart sponsored by Clear Creek Golf Carts and Utility Vehicles. There is also going to be free food and beverages.
