Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning faced off against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in “The Match: Champions for Charity,” Sunday at Medalist Golf Club in Florida,

Tom Brady’s bad play quickly became the focal point through the first nine holes.

The quarterback struggled to find the fairway. Brady did redeem himself after he holed-out a 100-yard wedge shot on the 7th hole. Problem is, he bent over to grab the ball out of the cup and split his pants. Luckily he was able to get a new pair delivered.

On the par-3 16th, a big putt from Mickelson cut Woods and Peyton’s lead to one. In the end, the event ended with the putter in Woods’ hand on 18 to seal the win for him and Manning.

Even though rain made for some less-than-stellar conditions, the broadcast found a way to showcase some great trash talk and raise a total of $20 million for charity.

Tiger, Phil, Brady, Manning’s ‘The Match’ Was Most-Watched Golf Event in Cable History

ESPN announced on Monday that Sunday’s airing of “The Match” drew an average of 5.8 million viewers. At its peak, 6.3 million people tuned in.

Those ratings set a record for a cable golf telecast. That means more people tuned in to watch Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady play for charity than have ever watched an early round cable broadcast of a major.

** By comparison, “The Last Dance” drew an average of 5.6 million live viewers for 10 episodes over a five-week run. The first episode that aired on April 19 drew 6.3 million viewers, which smashed ESPN’s previous record for a documentary held by 2012’s “30 for 30” Bo Jackson feature “You Don’t Know Bo,” which drew 3.6 million viewers.
