(West Plains) The MSU-West Plains Grizzlies only had two players to honor on Sophomore Night at the Civic Center Wednesday. Following ceremonies before the match, the Grizzlies defeated the Falcons from East Central College from Union, Missouri in 3 games.
A sweep might suggest the Grizzlies cruised to the win, but they had to work hard for all three games, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-23.
All three games saw MSU-West Plains struggle early against the 19-9 Falcons but rally late to claim the victory.
Sophomores honored Wednesday night included:
Raphaela Felisberto of Minas, Gerais, Brazil
Lauryn Farish of Springfield, Missouri.
The Don’s Auto Service players of the game were Raphaela Felisberto and Ambria Rupp from Austin, Texas. Both players were dominate at the net offensively and defensively.
An interesting aspect of Wednesday’s match was the number of players from area schools playing for the two schools. They included:
Bailey Luttrell from Winona
Gibby Beckler and Katie Myers from Conway
Lauryn Farish from Springfield
Kourtnee McDaniel from Eminence
Jaidyn Collins from Lebanon
The win evens the Grizzly record at 16-16. They will start regional competition at Jefferson College this Saturday
